Job summary

Great Plains Tribal Health in Rapid City, SD, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in dispensing prescribed medications and to provide high-quality pharmaceutical care to Oyáte Health Center patients.

You will manage inventory, enter data, process prior authorizations, assist with POS billing, and support sterile IV preparation while maintaining HIPAA compliance and adherence to federal/state regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with South Dakota State Board of Pharmacy upon hire.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) required
• Ability to obtain BLS certification upon hire.
• Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations and fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules.
• Assists Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication.
• Requests and obtains prior authorizations for various pharmaceutical products.
• Counts stock and enters data to maintain inventory records and generates pharmaceutical orders.
• Validates submission, receipt, and storage of incoming supplies; adjudicates orders when received and ensures payment.
• Coordinates reverse distributor program to obtain reimbursement where appropriate.
• Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patients and computes charges.
• Prepares sterile compounds (IVs) according to USP 797/800 standards.
• Enters patient name, prescribed medication, and cost to maintain pharmacy files and charge systems.
• Compiles and maintains reports to monitor outdated medication.
