Job summary

Legacy Community Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician to join our Houston pharmacy team starting September 2026. The role focuses on accurate medication preparation, dispensing, and patient counseling in a fast-paced environment.

You will support pharmacists, manage inventory, handle insurance processes, and participate in annual inventories while providing excellent customer service to patients and families served by Legacy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current PTCB certification required.
• Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Ability to pass a math test related to retail pharmacy.
• Maintain BLS/CPR certification and other required credentials.
• Two years of healthcare experience preferred; pharmacy logistics 1+ year preferred.
• Effective communication with staff, community and the public.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and stay calm under stress.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient information to ensure correct medication dosing.
• Dispense medications accurately and safely.
• Maintain stock and supplies with safety protocols.
• Handle insurance adjudication and pre-authorizations.
• Assist pharmacists and train new staff as needed.

Schedule: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-8PM) | Saturday (7:30AM-5:30PM)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists by entering patient information to ensure appropriate medication dosing.
• Dispense medications accurately and safely to patients.
• Maintain medication stock and supplies, adhering to safety protocols.
• Adjust workload priorities to maximize efficiency.
• Handle insurance adjudication and pre-authorizations promptly.
• Complete daily and monthly checklists, including expired drug checks and orders.
• Provide patient counseling and document refusals.
• Communicate with physicians' offices and insurance companies as necessary.
• Conduct weekly controlled substance counts and document findings.
• Help train new pharmacy staff.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and engage respectfully with customers and colleagues.
• Participate in shift change communication hand-offs.
• Always maintain patient confidentiality.
• Report unresolved issues to the Pharmacist, Manager.
• Inform peers about drug shortages, availability, and pricing.
• Track non-stock requests and offer recommendations.
• Engage in interim and annual physical inventories.
• Support the 340b program's inventory integrity.
• Maintain prescription files per policy and procedure.
• Manage cash collection and daily money procedures.
• Reconcile prescription fills with billing records.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate.
• Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities.
• Must maintain BLS /CPR.
• Must maintain required certifications.
• Must have two (2) years healthcare experience.
• 1+ years pharmacy logistics preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.
• Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Demonstrate project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register.
• Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
• Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize.
• Computer experience Windows, Excel, and Accounting software.
• Bilingual preferred.
