Job summary

Legacy Community Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Houston, TX, starting Oct 2026. You will support pharmacists in preparing, filling, and distributing medications while maintaining compliance and patient confidentiality.

A strong emphasis is placed on accuracy, customer service, and teamwork within a mission-driven environment. The role requires a TX-registered technician with a PTCB certification, high school diploma, and experience in healthcare or pharmacy logistics.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • PTCB certification.
  • Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must pass a math test relevant to retail pharmacy activities.
  • Maintain BLS/CPR certification.
  • Maintain required certifications.
  • Two years of healthcare experience.
  • 1+ years of pharmacy logistics preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively with staff, community and the public.
  • Ability to perform duties with/without accommodations.
  • Demonstrate project management and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management, and cash handling.
  • Remain calm under stress and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficient with Windows, Excel, and accounting software.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists by entering patient information to ensure proper dosing.
  • Dispense medications accurately and safely to patients.
  • Maintain medication stock and supplies with safety protocols.
  • Adjust workload priorities to maximize efficiency.
  • Handle insurance adjudication and pre-authorizations promptly.
  • Complete daily and monthly checklists, including expired drug checks.
  • Provide patient counseling and document refusals.
  • Communicate with physicians and insurers as needed.
  • Conduct weekly controlled substance counts and document findings.
  • Train new pharmacy staff.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and engage respectfully with customers and colleagues.
  • Participate in shift hand-offs and change communications.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Report unresolved issues to the Pharmacist or Manager.
  • Inform peers about shortages, availability, and pricing.
  • Track non-stock requests and offer recommendations.
  • Engage in inventory and 340b program integrity activities.
  • Maintain prescription files per policy and procedure.
  • Manage cash collection and daily money procedures.
  • Reconcile fills with billing records.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Pharmacy Technician (Starting Oct 2026) - Job Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-8PM) | Saturday (7:30AM-5:30PM)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the 340b program’s inventory integrity.
  • Maintain prescription files per policy and procedure.
  • Manage cash collection and daily money procedures.
  • Reconcile prescription fills with billing records.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate.
  • Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities.
