Qualifications

  • Maintain required certifications.

  • Pharmacy logistics experience preferred.

  • Proficient with Windows, Excel, and accounting software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in ensuring medication doses are appropriate.
  • Ensure patients receive the correct medication.
  • Maintain adequate stock of medication and supplies.
  • Re-establish priorities based on workload to ensure timely service.
  • Process insurance adjudication and pre-authorizations.
  • Complete daily and monthly activity checklists and inspections.
  • Provide counseling time to patients and document refusals.
  • Communicate with referring physicians' offices or insurers.
  • Perform weekly controlled substance cycle counts and document properly.
  • Assist in training new and existing pharmacy staff.
  • Provide excellent customer service and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Notify Pharmacy Manager of unresolved problems and follow up.
  • Participate in inventories and 340b program integrity.
  • Assist with cash handling procedures.

Pharmacy Technician - Job Overview
Schedule: Monday-Friday (7:30AM-8PM) | Saturday (7:30AM-5:30PM)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in ensuring medication doses are appropriate by obtaining and entering patient information
  • Ensure patients receive the correct medication using proper dispensing procedures
  • Maintain adequate stock of medication and supplies, using safety precautions during stocking
  • Re-establish priorities based on workload to ensure timely service
  • Process insurance adjudication and pre-authorizations promptly
  • Complete and document daily and monthly activity checklists, including expired drug checks and area inspections
  • Offer appropriate counseling time to patients and document refusals
  • Communicate with referring physicians' offices or insurance companies as required
  • Perform weekly controlled substance cycle counts and document appropriately
  • Participate in the education and training of new and existing pharmacy employees
  • Provide positive customer service and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Notify the Pharmacy Manager of unresolved problems and ensure timely follow-up
  • Participate in interim and annual physical inventories
  • Support the Manager, Pharmacy Operations with 340b program inventory integrity
  • Collect and reconcile cash, ensuring proper procedures for money collections are followed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate
  • Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities
  • Must maintain BLS /CPR
  • Must maintain required certifications
  • Must have two (2) years healthcare experience
  • 1+ years pharmacy logistics preferred
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, community, and the general public
  • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Demonstrate project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions
  • Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize
  • Computer experience Windows, Excel, and Accounting software
  • Bilingual preferred
