Legacy Community Health in Houston, TX is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for Infusion & Injectable Services. You’ll assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing infusion and injectable medications, while ensuring documentation and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes patient safety, inventory management, and collaboration with nurses and providers to ensure timely access to therapies within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Current PTCB certificate is required.
• Licensed as a pharmacy technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Ability to pass a math test related to retail pharmacy activities.
• Active BLS/CPR certification.
• Active Sterile Compounding Certification.
• Current Immunization Certification and ability to administer vaccines.
• Three years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Advanced Pharmacy Technician Certification.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing infusion and injectable medications.
• Ensure sterile compounding per USP guidelines.
• Prepare labels, documentation, and maintain inventory records.
• Manage infusion workflow queues and scheduling.
• Ensure medications are available before scheduled infusions.
• Oversee procurement and inventory of specialty medications and biologics.
• Support programs for long-acting injectables including HIV and osteoporosis.
• Monitor inventory levels and address shortages.
• Coordinate shipments and cold-chain storage.
• Assist with replacement programs and manufacturer support.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and rotation.
• Assist with implementing inventory management systems.
• Collaborate with pharmacy, nursing, and clinic teams to improve patient access to therapy.
• Participate in audits and quality assurance.
• Contribute to projects to expand services.
• Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulations.
• Identify operational issues and propose improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing both infusion and injectable medications.
• Ensure compliance with sterile compounding operations as per USP guidelines.
• Prepare medication labels, documentation, and keep accurate inventory records.
• Manage infusion workflow queues and coordinate medication scheduling effectively.
• Ensure that all medications are available before scheduled infusion appointments.
• Oversee the procurement and inventory management of specialty medications and biologics.
• Support administration programs for long-acting injectable medications including in areas like HIV and osteoporosis.
• Monitor medication inventory levels and proactively address any shortages.
• Coordinate medication shipments and manage cold-chain storage requirements.
• Assist with replacement programs and manufacturer support initiatives.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and facilitate inventory rotation.
• Assist with the implementation of inventory management systems to enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with pharmacy, nursing, and clinic teams to enhance patient access to therapy.
• Participate in audits and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance.
• Contribute to departmental projects and efforts for service expansion.
• Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulations while adhering to organizational policies.
• Proactively identify operational issues and recommend improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate
• Registered as a licensed pharmacy technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
• Ability to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities
• Active BLS /CPR certification
• Active Sterile Compounding Certification
• Current Immunization Certification and ability to administer vaccines
• Three (3) years of pharmacy technician experience
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Advanced Pharmacy Technician Certification
• Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.
• Understanding of sterile compounding principles and aseptic technique.
• Project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register
• Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
• Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize
• Computer experience – Windows, Excel, and Accounting software.
• This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management
• Bilingual / Spanish fluency.
