Functions as a pharmacy technician as defined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners. Assists pharmacists in entering orders, billing, preparing and distributing medications, maintaining accurate medication records, and assessing inventory. Answers telephone calls, assists patients, and maintains patient confidentiality. All duties are performed under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and may be performed across all UnityPoint Health–Des Moines locations.

Performs accurate data entry by selecting the correct drug product, interpreting sig codes, and entering all prescription components.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Proficient in reading, writing, speaking English. Strong math skills including basic algebra. Accurate and moderate speed typing.
Experience: Computer proficiency required. One or more years of community pharmacy experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist-Intern with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy prior to employment. Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other recognized provider.
