Corewell Health's Gerber Hospital in Fremont, MI is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists, process medications, and deliver supplies to patient care areas. The role involves working with automation systems, performing sterile/commercial preparations under supervision, and maintaining a compliant work environment.

The ideal candidate will hold MI Pharmacy Technician licensure and national certification (PTCB or ExCPT), with inpatient experience considered a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred Associate’s degree; hospital experience preferred.
• Must hold MI Pharmacy Technician license or be eligible; national certification preferred (PTCB or ExCPT).

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, assist with processing and preparing medications and supplies.
• Work with medication automation systems and prepare unit-dose packaging.
• Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas.
• Triage phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and handle controlled substances under supervision.
• Complete Corewell Health competencies by due dates.

Scope of Work

Under the direction of a Pharmacist, provides technical assistance, processing and preparing medications and supplies. Works with multiple medication automation systems. Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas. Triages phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members. Able to work in complex pharmacy areas (satellites, sterile product compounding, controlled substance handling, inventory management).

• Prepares supplies / medication, including complex sterile formulations under the direction of a Pharmacist. May prepare hazardous or biologic products when properly trained and competencies are passed.
• Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging.
• Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law.
• Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications. Completes all Corewell Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.

• LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or

• LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATE_MI State of Michigan Must obtain full licensure w/in 90 days of hire. Upon Hire required And

• LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required

• CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required Or

• CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required

Ideal candidate is a Pharmacy Technician possessing both Full License and National Certification, such as PTCB or ExCPT

Inpatient experience would be a plus

All Pharmacy Technicians may apply

Pharmacy Hours are usually between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday to Friday

Between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Shifts are usually 8.5 Hrs.
