Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to process, prepare and deliver medications under the supervision of a Pharmacist. You will work with sterile products, controlled substances, and inventory systems, delivering meds to care areas and triaging calls from the care team.

The role requires high school diploma, MI licensure or intern status, and ideally full technician license or certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• MI licensure as Pharmacist Intern or Pharmacy Technician upon hire.
• Full Pharmacy Technician license or certification preferred (PTCB/ExCPT).
• Ideal candidate has both license and certification; IV/Compounding experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares supplies/medication under the direction of a Pharmacist.
• Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit-dose packaging.
• Handles controlled substances per federal/state law under pharmacist supervision.
• Maintains a clean, organized work area.
• Delivers medications and supplies to nursing stations/patient care areas.
• Triages calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members.
• Maintains compliance with CPhT certifications and Spectrum Health competencies.

Scope of Work

The Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, processes, prepares, and delivers medications and supplies, working with multiple medication automation systems. The Pharmacy Technician works in complex pharmacy areas, including Sterile Product Compounding, Controlled Substance Handling, and Inventory Management. Under the direction of a Pharmacist, provides technical assistance, processing and preparing medications and supplies. Works with multiple medication automation systems. Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas. Triages phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members.

• Prepares supplies / medication under the direction of a Pharmacist.
• Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging.
• Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas.
• Triages phone calls and messages
• Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications. Completes all Spectrum Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent
• Retail or hospital pharmacy experience Preferred
• LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
• LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required And
• LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan 1 Year required
• CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes - LIC-Pharmacist Intern 1 Year required Or
• CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association Excludes - LIC-Pharmacist Intern 1 Year required
• Ideal candidate will possess both Full Pharmacy Technician License and Certification, such as PTCB Certification or ExCPT
• IV, Compounding, Chemo, or Inpatient Pharmacy experience would be a great plus
