Job summary

Providence Covenant Childrens Hospital seeks a Pharmacy Technician II to support unit dose and stock medication dispensing to nursing units and other departments. This role covers filling oral and IV meds, triaging orders, and ensuring ADS integrity in a high-volume hospital setting.

Required qualification includes a Texas Pharmacy Technician license or trainee status, plus 1+ years of pharmacy practice with PTCB certification.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required or equivalency.
• Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License upon hire.
• 1+ year(s) pharmacy practice in an integrated health system with current PTCB certification OR 2+ years hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified.

Responsibilities

• Fill and dispense oral and IV medications to units and departments.
• Triaging patient orders and maintaining the automated dispensing system (ADS).
• Maintain accuracy and speed in medication dispensing processes.

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech II performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS)

Required Qualifications:

• H.S. Diploma -OR- GED Equivalency
• Upon Hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire-OR-Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License
• 1 or more years (> 2080 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and current PTCB certification- OR -2 or more years (>4160 hours) hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician Program
• Specialty certification (e.g., ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state
• Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR)
