Responsibilities include:
- In accordance with state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assist in other Pharmacy Department duties per company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians in system operation and support cashiers with pharmacy transactions.
- Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance. Resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Share customer service best practices with team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
Operations
- Assist in pharmacy practice under pharmacist supervision, ensuring compliance with all regulations and policies.
- Perform duties such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, and checking for interactions. Support workflow management.
- Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to error and quality improvement policies.
- Follow policies on Good Faith Dispensing during prescription activities.
- Handle sales transactions, including cash handling and assisting customers in locating products.
- Manage communications, including telephone calls to physicians.
- Process third-party claims efficiently and perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Support inventory management activities and maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques.
- Assist in clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
- Build and maintain relationships with the medical community and support outreach efforts.
- Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized pharmacy environment.
- Comply with all policies, maintain respectful relationships, and complete assigned tasks.
Training & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through our training program and/or state certification. Certification is a condition for promotion to senior technician.
- Attend training and acquire continuing education credits to stay current in healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
