Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship helps you become a Pharmacy Technician Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and maintain high industry standards, giving you a portable, nationally recognized credential to advance your career.

Whether you are new or experienced, Walgreens will train you to serve and care for our patients and customers. Our training program provides foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experience to prepare you for certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under supervision, in practicing pharmacy in accordance with regulations and company policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with pharmacy operations, including coaching other technicians if certified.
• Deliver excellent customer service by engaging with customers, resolving issues, and developing relationships.

Operations

• Support pharmacy activities such as entering patient data, filling prescriptions, verifying medications, and maintaining workflow under supervision.
• Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to policies regarding dispensing and safety.
• Handle sales transactions, assist customers in locating products, and support inventory management.
• Assist in clinical services, coordinate with healthcare providers, and maintain a clean, organized pharmacy environment.

Training & Personal Development

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated program or state requirements.
• Attend training and continuing education to stay updated on healthcare and pharmacy developments.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Prefer applicants with six months of retail experience, prior Walgreens experience, good math and computer skills, and PTCB certification.
