Corewell Health’s Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support the Pharmacy HDVCH team. Working under a Pharmacist, you will dispense medications, assist with sterile and non-sterile compounding, and deliver medications to patient care areas while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate holds an MI license/certification and a High School diploma; an Associate’s degree is preferred. This on-site, full-time night role runs 8 p.m.

• Licenses or certification listed for MI state.

Scope of Work

Under the direction of a Pharmacist, provides technical assistance, processing and preparing medications and supplies. Works with multiple medication automation systems. Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas. Triages phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members. Able to work in complex pharmacy areas (satellites, sterile product compounding, controlled substance handling, inventory management).

• Prepares supplies / medication, including complex sterile formulations under the direction of a Pharmacist. May prepare hazardous or biologic products when properly trained and competencies are passed.
• Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging.
• Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law.
• Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications. Completes all Spectrum Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent
• Preferred Associate's Degree

• LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
• LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required And
• LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
• CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required Or
• CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required
• Primary tasks will be:
• -Dispensing (first doses, cart fill)
• -Pyxis refill
• -Sterile/non-sterile compounding
• -CODE/Emergency response with a Pharmacist
• -Phone Triage
• Ideal candidate will possess Full License and National Pharmacy Technician Certification, such as PTCB or ExCPT
• This is an On-Site Position that will be 7 Days On/7 Days Off, from Wednesday to Wednesday, from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
• This position will include one additional 1st or 2nd Shift during the off week
