Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• State Pharmacy Technician License, if required by state regulations.
• Registration in good standing with the board of pharmacy by state.
• National Certification (CPht) or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Customer service oriented and able to work in a team.
• Ability to handle billing and insurance processing.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist in filling prescriptions and ensuring accuracy and security of operations.
• Provide excellent customer service to all pharmacy customers.
• Input prescriptions for new fills and refills per order; verify information and allergies.
• Fill prescriptions and deliver to pharmacist for review, checking for electronic prescriptions.
• Process insurance information, deductibles, and copayments; handle patient billing.
• Maintain accurate patient records and up-to-date demographics and insurance info.
• Utilize pharmacy and practice management systems, reconcile dual systems when needed.
• Review medications at each contact or refill with prescriber follow-up as required.
• Coordinate unpacking, inventory updates, and notify pharmacist of stock issues.
• Assist with medication delivery, refill reminder calls, and patient counseling promotions.
• Log errors to promote quality and system improvements.
• Answer phones and return calls promptly; assist in coordination of medication delivery.
• Maintain logs and participate in annual inventory as required.
