Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. You will handle labeling, routing calls, inventory, and documentation while adhering to USP standards and regulatory requirements.

The role involves potential IV admixtures, immunization support where allowed, and training of technicians as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements.
• Must receive certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT) within 18 months from start date, or sooner if in more stringent in state.

Responsabilités

• Assist licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks.
• Screen calls and route as needed using proper telephone etiquette.
• Assist in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Complete documentation required for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances.
• Perform nonsterile compounding following USP standards where applicable.
• Perform sterile IV admixture using proper aseptic technique where applicable.
• Inspect medication storage areas for adherence to storage policies.
• Complete and document medication admission histories as applicable.
• Seek additional duties when work is done and accept other duties as assigned.
• May participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure excellence of services.
• May assist in training pharmacy technicians and extenders in policies and workflows.
