Job summary

Advocate Health Care's Advocate Christ Medical Center Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in the safe preparation, labeling, and distribution of medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. The role helps ensure accurate, efficient medication distribution and regulatory compliance across the hospital.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and certification (CPhT or ExCPT) within 18 months of start.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification as Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or ExCPT within 18 months from start date.
• No work experience required; hospital experience preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Screen calls and route using proper etiquette; assist with procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Perform nonsterile compounding following USP standards; handle sterile IV admixture as applicable.
• Record medication admission histories and enter data into pharmacy system for record keeping.
