Full-time, 40 Hours/week
Mon-Fri Days, 8:30AM-5:15PM
Onsite Akron, OH

Summary:

The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist with filling and checking prescription medications. The technician enters, counts, pours, and labels prescriptions for patients.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist pharmacists in retrieval, processing, and distribution of medication, including unit dose, oral liquid, and solid forms.
2. Abide by all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and accreditation standards for safe pharmacy practice.
3. Perform non-sterile compounding according to USP <795> standards.
4. Notify the pharmacist of any drug allergies, interactions, or insurance issues.
5. Provide courteous and timely customer service.
6. Restock prescription supplies, rotate stock, and remove outdated medications.
7. Maintain appropriate medication inventory levels, removing outdates and recalls.
8. Package, record, and mail prescriptions to patients.
9. Document appropriately in the electronic medical record.
10. Maintain professional relationships with pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
11. Train new employees and serve as a positive role model.
12. Ensure compliance with Ohio Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, URAC, CMS, and FDA regulations and standards.
13. Perform other duties as required.

Other Information:

Technical Expertise:

Prior experience as an outpatient or inpatient pharmacy technician is preferred.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Ohio Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee is required; certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Preferably 1 year of relevant experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
