Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for nuclear pharmacy operations in Indiana. The role requires handling radiopharmaceuticals under regulatory guidelines and driving responsibilities for deliveries.

You will prepare prescriptions, draw dosages, maintain records, and assist with labeling and quality assurance in a secure, regulated setting. Weekend/on-call rotations and overtime may apply.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum age of 18 due to driving of company vehicle.
  • Registration with State Board of Pharmacy or licensure as Pharmacy Technician or PTCB preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
  • IV or clean room experience is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small objects and dispensing doses.
  • Ability to work in a nuclear environment.
  • Ability to work weekends, on‑call, holidays, overtime, or in rotation.
  • Mid-level computer skills (use of computers/tablets).
  • Vendor credentialing may be required.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtaining Staff Pharmacist approval.
  • Draws doses into a syringe or vial.
  • Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Receives, documents, and stores incoming/outgoing pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains computer inventory and records for proper material usage.
  • Assists/labels blood cell products as needed.
  • Performs general laboratory and facility cleanup.
  • Clerical/administrative tasks including receipts, reports, billing records.
  • Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles.
  • Communicates with customers by telephone to address questions/concerns.
  • Works under close supervision; deviations require supervisor approval.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Shift/Schedule
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday 1:00am - 9:00am
  • Weekend rotations - every 3rd or 4th weekend
  • Holiday (1- 2 holidays per year) and on call (1- 2 times per month) rotations
  • Candidate must be flexible to work different shifts, schedules, holidays, days and overtime as needed.

What does Nuclear Pharmacy contribute to Cardinal Health?

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy

Responsibilities

Under the immediate direction of a qualified licensed Staff Pharmacist, you will be trained to draw, dispense, and package radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy. Many of your duties will include:

  • Prepares prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
  • Draws doses into either a syringe or vial
  • Performs quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines
  • Receives, documents, and stores incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines
  • Maintains computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
  • Assists and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
  • Performs general laboratory and facility clean up
  • May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
  • Makes deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
  • Speaks with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone
  • Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Must hold a valid driver's license

  • Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or PTCB preferred
  • Ability to manage weight up to 75 pounds
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • Previous IV or clean room environment experience is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, holding of small objects, and dispensing doses
  • Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks
  • Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
  • Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate days/shifts, or be in a rotation
  • Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
  • May require vendor credentialing
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
Pay rate:

$20.00 per hour
