Job summary

Cardinal Health, Inc. in Asheville, NC is seeking a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician to support daily operations and the safe handling of radiopharmaceuticals.

The role requires adherence to state and federal guidelines and shares responsibility for timely patient medication delivery. The position requires an NC Pharmacy Technician license, ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and flexibility across shifts including potential weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

  • North Carolina Pharmacy Technician license required.
  • Previous Pharmacy Technician experience preferred; IV experience is a plus.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; must be 18+ to drive company vehicle.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds; ability to work in a nuclear environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; flexibility with shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assists pharmacist in preparing facility for daily operations through cleaning, equipment testing, inventory maintenance, restocking, and preparing reports and records.
  • Acts as a shift lead for pharmacy technicians and follows SOPs to organize, prepare and dispense radioactive medications.
  • Collects and processes customer orders for timely delivery of medications to patients.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as billing and assisting customers to facilitate pharmacy operations.
  • Maintains pharmacy safety by following daily infection control procedures and proper handling of radioactive materials.
  • Assists in training and development of staff through mentorship of pharmacy tech trainees.

Job description

What Nuclear Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health
Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.

Schedule
  • 40 hours per week. The typical schedule will be Monday-Friday 1:30am-9:30am
  • Will potentially consider a 7a-3p shift schedule depending on applicant needs – but candidate must still be able to support occasional 130am-930am shift coverage
  • Will be part of weekend shift rotation (typically 1 weekend shift a month) & holiday shift rotation (approx. 1 holiday a year)
  • Must be flexible to work different days, schedules, hours or overtime based on business needs

  • Maintains pharmacy safety through following and recording completion of daily infection control procedures and proper handling of radioactive materials.
  • Assists in training and development of staff through mentorship of pharmacy tech trainees.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • North Carolina Pharmacy Technician license required
  • Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician preferred. Past IV experience is a plus
  • Valid driver's license
  • Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle
  • Ability to manage weight up to 75 pounds
  • May require vendor credentialing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts
  • Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks
  • Comfortable working in a nuclear environment
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets

Anticipated hourly range:$16.40 per hour - $23.50 per hour based on experience
