Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications. You will accurately select, prepare, and label medications, including hazardous drugs, and assist with inventory control and procurement.

You may perform nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture where applicable, and assist with data entry, insurance verification, and label generation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certification in Pharmacy Technician is required within 18 months of start date.
• Registration or licensure with the state board of pharmacy is required by the state of employment.
• Experience working with pharmacy software, data entry, insurance verification, and label generation.
• Ability to perform nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Screen calls and route as needed with proper etiquette.
• Assist with inventory control and procurement; monitor expirations.
• Document medication admission histories and perform data entry for records.
• Develop competence in third-party billing functions.
• May immunize under supervision of a registered pharmacist where allowed.
• Operate vehicle to deliver medications and supplies as required by department.
