Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications across patient care areas. You will accurately select, label, and prepare medications, including hazardous drugs, and support daily pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities include inventory control, order processing, patient data entry, insurance verification, and collaboration with multiple departments to ensure timely, accurate medication delivery and adherence to regulatory

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• State board registration/licensure required where applicable.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification through CPhT or ExCPT within 18 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks and pharmacy procurement.
• Screen calls and route using proper etiquette.
• Participate in inventory control and outdate checking.
• Document removal, stocking and wastage of controlled substances as required.
• Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards and sterile IV admixture where applicable.
• Record initial patient demographics and insurance data for label generation and billing.
