Job summary

Partnership Health Center in Missoula is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to develop and maintain medication assistance programs for the community. You will plan and execute programs, work with health organizations, and educate providers on operations.

The ideal candidate has a pharmacy technician certification, at least three years of experience, and the ability to handle patient interactions effectively. The position requires presence during nights and weekends; remote work is not an option.

Qualifications

Job description

Position Overview

Performs complex activities to develop and maintain medication assistance programs for the Missoula community in collaboration with health organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, and operate medication assistance programs with partners such as Partnership Health Center and Providence St. Patrick Hospital.
  • Create written operational policies, ensure policy compliance, and report program results.
  • Educate health care providers and train staff on Medication Assistance Program operations.
  • Coordinate Pharmacy Work Group activities, including meetings, minutes, reports, and presentations.
  • Interview patients to assess financial eligibility and complete assistance program applications.
  • Act as liaison between providers and patients to streamline the application process.
  • Maintain medication records for patients in an electronic medical record system.
  • Process bulk medication donation applications from company programs.
  • Support Pharmacy Directors and personnel with administrative details related to the Medication Assistance Program.
  • Compose correspondence and maintain files of reports, forms, and other materials.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Additional Duties

Provide related work as required; serve as lead worker to train and monitor volunteers and students.

Supervision
  • Receives general supervision from PHC Pharmacy Directors.
  • Exercised supervision as lead worker over volunteers and students.
Working Relationships

Collaborates with health care providers, Pharmacy staff, students from the School of Pharmacy, and partners at Providence St. Patrick Hospital.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Considerable knowledge of Patient Assistance Programs, pharmaceutical industry, pharmacy operating systems, medical terminology, legal aspects of pharmacy practice, and PHC policies.
  • Proficiency in personal computer use (word‐processing, spreadsheets, databases) and pharmacy software such as Pioneer, Meddata, Rx Assist, Epic, etc.
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance and PHC Corporate Compliance Guidelines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Capability to work independently and make responsible decisions per established policies.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse individuals and facilitate group processes.
  • Capability to serve a diverse, low‑income population.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician Certified (P.T.C.B.) and pharmacy technician license issued by the State of Montana Board of Pharmacy.
  • At least three years of experience as a pharmacy technician, including experience with pharmaceutical manufacturers or patient assistance programs.
Special Requirements
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity to mandatory infectious diseases; mandatory TB test.
  • Health‑Care Professional BLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Subject to a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
Physical/Environmental Demands

Office environment; occasional light lifting (up to 20 lb); may work in multiple locations; risk of exposure to communicable diseases. Position requires presence during nights, weekends, and Saturday clinic sessions; remote work not available.
