Job summary

Downtown Evansville Inc in Evansville, IN is seeking a compassionate Medication Assistance Coordinator to join our Pharmacy team and coordinate access to medications for patients in our community.

You will work with patients, providers, manufacturers, and community organizations to enroll in medication assistance programs and to ensure patients receive the medications they need to improve health and quality of life.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician in Training in the applicable state.
  • Must obtain Indiana Pharmacy Technician registration within required timeframes if hired pending licensure.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, pharmacuetical manufacturers, and community organizations regarding medication assistance programs.
  • Coordinate enrollment and re-enrollment activities for eligible patients participating in medication assistance programs.
  • Complete and monitor applications, documentation, and eligibility requirements for assistance programs and charitable foundations.
  • Follow up on medication requests and ensure timely processing of applications and approvals.
  • Maintain accurate records within the EMR and program databases.
  • Manage foundation accounts and assist with billing and reimbursement processes as appropriate.
  • Provide information and referral services regarding available community resources and support programs.
  • Educate and assist patients, providers, and office staff on medication assistance resources and program requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of available pharmaceutical manufacturer programs, grants, foundations, and other assistance opportunities.
  • Collect and track program data, outcomes, and performance metrics.
  • Support development and implementation of outreach and marketing efforts that promote medication assistance services.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership and healthcare teams to improve patient access to medications and support services.

Help Patients Access the Medications They Need

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Assistance Coordinator to join our Pharmacy team. In this role, you will help patients overcome financial barriers to treatment by connecting them with medication assistance programs, charitable foundations, and other community resources that support access to essential medications.

As a key member of our ambulatory pharmacy team, you will work closely with patients, providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, community organizations, and healthcare staff to coordinate enrollment, manage ongoing assistance programs, and help ensure patients receive the medications they need to improve their health and quality of life.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, pharmaceutical companies, and community organizations regarding medication assistance programs
  • Coordinate enrollment and re-enrollment activities for eligible patients participating in medication assistance programs
  • Complete and monitor applications, documentation, and eligibility requirements for assistance programs and charitable foundations
  • Follow up on medication requests and ensure timely processing of applications and approvals
  • Maintain accurate records within the electronic medical record (EMR) and program databases
  • Manage foundation accounts and assist with billing and reimbursement processes as appropriate
  • Provide information and referral services regarding available community resources and support programs
  • Educate and assist patients, providers, and office staff on medication assistance resources and program requirements
  • Maintain knowledge of available pharmaceutical manufacturer programs, grants, foundations, and other assistance opportunities
  • Collect and track program data, outcomes, and performance metrics
  • Assist with financial, budgetary, and operational activities related to the Medication Assistance Program (MAP)
  • Support the development and implementation of outreach and marketing efforts that promote medication assistance services
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership and healthcare teams to improve patient access to medications and support services
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy technician experience preferred
  • Previous customer service, healthcare, pharmacy, clinic, or business‑related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with patients, providers, and community partners
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn electronic medical record systems and program databases
  • Passion for helping patients navigate healthcare resources and access needed medications

Required:

  • Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician in Training in the applicable state of practice
  • Must obtain applicable Indiana Pharmacy Technician registration within required timeframes if hired pending licensure

Preferred:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
