Adventist Rehabilitation - Rockville is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician Lead to support the Rehab Pharmacy Department. You will oversee automation systems, assist with reporting, and help implement technology solutions in collaboration with the informatics team.

The role requires a Maryland-licensed Pharmacy Technician with 3+ years hospital experience, PTCB certification, and familiarity with sterile compounding per USP standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor’s/Associate degree in healthcare field preferred or graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program (preferred).
  • At least three years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician II in a hospital setting with automated distribution systems.
  • Licensure as Pharmacy Technician by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
  • PTCB Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and assist with pharmacy automation and operations.
  • Assist with reports from automated or manual systems.
  • Support technology implementation and maintenance of pharmacy distribution systems.
  • Coordinate moving automated dispensing machines with informatics team.
  • Train new pharmacy technicians and support new workflows.
  • Collect and monitor data for performance improvement initiatives.
  • Prepack medications and manage dispensing machines with safety emphasis.
  • Compound IV medications following USP 797/800 standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation Hospital seeks to hire an experienced Pharmacy Technician Lead for our Rehab Pharmacy Department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

As a Pharmacy Technician Lead
  • Properly operate and assist the facility pharmacy leaders and system pharmacy informatics team with troubleshooting and monitoring pharmacy automation and operations.
  • Assist with applicable reports generated from automated or manual systems as required
  • Provide facility support in the implementation, installation, maintenance and updating of technology systems related to pharmacy distribution in collaboration with system pharmacy informatics team.
  • Work collaboratively with facility pharmacy leaders and system pharmacy informatics team to assist with coordinating moving of automated dispensing machines and other automation installations as applicable.
  • Participate in the training of new pharmacy technicians and on any new processes/workflows.
  • In collaboration with facility pharmacy leaders and system pharmacy informatics team, may collect, monitor, and evaluate data to provide an analysis of results and assists with recommendations for performance improvement initiatives
  • Prepack medications, refills crash carts, fills first doses, and refills automated dispensing machines with patient safety at the forefront and ensuring accuracy.
  • Compound IV medications utilizing proper sterile technique following USP 797 and USP 800 standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications include
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor of Science, Arts, or Associate’s degree in a healthcare related field preferred or graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program (preferred).
  • At least three years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician II (or equivalent) in a hospital pharmacy with advanced training or experience in automated distribution systems and pharmacy operations.
  • Licensure as Pharmacy Technician by the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certification
Work Schedule

Employment Type: Full-time Hours per Week: 40 hrs/week Typical Daily Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am-430pm, or one evening shift a week as needed (130-10) Shift Type: Day Weekend Requirements: required as needed one weekend a month 8a-430p Holiday Requirements: Required Rotation/Follow company holiday calendar On-Call: no Shift Differential Eligible: yes Pay Range: $26.91 - $39.03 If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this position is classified as: United States of America (Non-Exempt)
