Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and labeling medications across Carle Foundation Hospital and related locations. The role includes filing, compounding, reconstitution, labeling and delivery under supervision.

The ideal candidate is a licensed pharmacy technician or student pharmacist meeting Illinois requirements, with experience in IV preparation, Omnicell restock, and billing processes.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacy Technician or student pharmacist per IL requirements.
• Licensed within 60 days of license application (IDFPR).
• Certification not required if exempt per IL rules.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and safely prepare and label chemotherapy drugs for administration.
• Accurately fill and deliver Omnicell restock lists.
• Assist in developing and maintaining training materials as needed.
• Enter and process new prescriptions and refills.
• Fill medication orders in an accurate and timely manner, including unit dose and take-home prescriptions.
• Perform billing functions, patient charging and credits, and controlled substance charging.
• Prepare non-sterile compounding and IV products using aseptic technique.
• Prepare parenteral nutrition solutions and batch IV products as needed.
• Provide services to Operating Room staff from the OR medication room.
• Refer customers to a pharmacist when appropriate.

Education

Licensed Pharmacy Technician within 60 days of license application

Certified Pharmacy Technician not required (student pharmacist allowed)
