Job summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services, including processing prescriptions, under close supervision. The role is entry-level for about six months to a year, with rotating 08-hour shifts in the United States.

Responsibilities include entering orders, operating dispensing systems, maintaining inventory, and preparing sterile and non-sterile products under pharmacist checks.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, or Pharmacy Technician Externship performed at Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Department of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy computer system; operates automated compounding and dispensing machines under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Maintains medication inventory; places and receives stock replacement orders.
• Prepares, compounds and labels intravenous admixtures, cancer chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition patient specific doses using aseptic technique.
• Prepares, packages, compounds and labels non-sterile drug products for specific patients with appropriate final pharmacist checks.
