Part-Time Instructor

Summary: An instructor facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and supports all facets of the learning environment. They provide education through excellence in learning-centered instruction, enabling graduates to meet the evolving needs of the marketplace. The instructor encourages a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility, respect, lifelong learning, ethics, and personal and professional development.

Key Job Elements:

• Designs and delivers class instruction for both residential and blended formats, developing instructional plans to meet course competencies and creating activities that support lesson objectives.
• Evaluates student achievement by establishing performance criteria and providing instruction that fosters competency development.
• Creates an engaging online, blended, and classroom learning environment conducive to student involvement and success.
• Provides weekly feedback to students, including comprehensive mid-term feedback and opportunities for struggling students to improve.
• Supports student success by demonstrating flexibility, passion for teaching, and engagement with students.
• Maintains accurate records, manages attendance, submits grades and reports on time, and enforces academic and attendance policies.
• Participates in faculty, departmental, and school-wide meetings.
• Contributes to campus service by participating in at least one special project committee annually.
• Integrates professional, industry, and technical experience into teaching, stays informed about industry trends, and introduces industry perspectives into courses.
• Responds to curriculum-related questions and attends Program Advisory Committee meetings annually as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Accountability:

• Current registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or national pharmacy tech certification with PTCB or NHA.
• At least 4 years of in-field experience.
• 2+ years in hospital and sterile compounding, with ACPE IV/Sterile Compounding Certification preferred.
• Graduates of pharmacy tech programs are preferred; teaching experience is a plus but not required.
