Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital is seeking a full-time caregiver/pharmacy technician to join our team in Cleveland, OH. The role features evening shifts from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM and requires working a full weekend every other weekend.

The ideal candidate will be a Certified Pharmacy Technician with OBOP registration, hospital experience, and the ability to compound and dispense medications while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Six months of hospital experience preferred.
• CPhT certification required at hire.
• Active OBOP registration as a pharmacy technician or trainee required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications by selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
• Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations accurately and promptly.
• Maintain inventories and perform cycle counts and inspections.
• Keep a safe, clean work area by following procedures and regulations.
• Document regulatory activities, logs, and trainings.
• Use information systems and automation to complete tasks.
• Assist with training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

A caregiver in this full-time position will work evening shifts from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Both day and evening shift caregivers are required to work a full weekend every other weekend.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
• Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
• Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
• Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National HealthCareer Association (NHA).
• Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
• Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Six months of hospital experience
• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program

Physical Requirements:

• Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $21.50

Maximum hourly: $31.00
