Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Pharmacy Tech registration or Pharmacist intern registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• ACPE IV Certification with 40-hour course in IV admixture preferred.
• Sterile Products Certification required if compounds sterile products.
• 1-2 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Aufgaben

• Selects prescribed medications according to dosage and strength on patient file or cart-fill list.
• Receives merchandise and places into inventory.
• Monitors for out-of-stock or out-of-date inventory.
• Delivers medications to patient care areas.
• Inspects and maintains emergency medication trays.
• Packages and labels unit dose medications and maintains pre-pack records.
• Loads drugs into automated dispensing system and maintains inventory for non-automated areas.
• Responds to medication requests from nursing and other departments.
• Follows safety checks to ensure medications are compliant.
• Prepares sterile products aseptically when appropriate.
• Gathers medication history from patients when applicable.
• Manages pharmaceutical waste and credits returned meds where applicable.
• Under supervision, communicates with physicians about drug choices and interactions.
• Adheres to policies, budgets, and quality standards; supports department goals.
• Acts as preceptor/mentor to less experienced staff and promotes professional growth.
• Provides compassionate and personalized service to patients and colleagues.
