Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist by transcribing orders, preparing medications, and supporting operations. Qualifications

• Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
• Registration as a technician with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.

Responsibilities

• Receives and transcribes orders from prescribers under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Assists with training of new employees, educating them in job-specific functions.
• Assists with Medication Therapy Management, Medsync, and other clinical outreach programs.
• Selects and prepares medications as authorized by a physician under pharmacist supervision.
• Prepares medications for pick-up, delivery or shipping; handles inventory and credits.
• Manages patient payments and cash handling; resolves payer issues.
• Responds to customer requests for pharmacy services not requiring pharmacist judgment.
• Operates dispensing technology to supply medications per orders.
• Orders, restocks, rotates inventory and assists with expiration management.
• Contributes to process improvement projects.
