Responsibilities

• Safely and accurately prepares medications in ready-to-administer form, using proper techniques and calculations.
• Selects and procures medications based on departmental criteria.
• Stores controlled substances to prevent diversion in line with state and federal laws.
• Adheres to recommendations regarding safe medication principles, including look-alike/sound-alike and high-alert drugs.
• Assists pharmacists in obtaining patient-specific information for safe medication management.
• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, quality and safety standards.
• Ensures proper and safe storage of medications throughout the hospital.
• Performs IV preparation under sterile technique and maintains daily production logs.
• Other duties as assigned
