• Adheres to recommendations regarding safe medication principles, including look-alike/sound-alike and high-alert drugs.
• Assists pharmacists in obtaining patient-specific information for safe medication management.
• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, quality and safety standards.
• Ensures proper and safe storage of medications throughout the hospital.
• Performs IV preparation under sterile technique and maintains daily production logs.
• Other duties as assigned

About the Job

MedStar Health is hiring a Full Time Pharmacy Technician II to join our team in Elkridge. The shift for this position is 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.

• 1. Safely and accurately prepares all medications in the readiest to administer form, using proper techniques, calculations and appropriate precautions.
• 2. Selection and Procurement: Ensures that medications are selected and procured based on departmental criteria.
• 3. Stores controlled substances in such a manner to prevent diversion in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
• 4. Abides by recommendations from regulatory and advisory groups regarding safe medication principles, including look alike, sound alike and high alert drugs.
• 5. Assists pharmacists in obtaining patient specific information as appropriate for safe medication management.
• 6. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• 7. Ensures that medications are properly and safely stored throughout the hospital. Stores medications under conditions necessary to ensure stability.
• 8. IV Compounding: performs IV preparation under sterile technique, packages medication for distribution, and maintains daily production logs according.
• 9. Other duties as assigned

This position has a hiring range of

USD $19.55 - USD $34.25 /Hr.
