Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support distributive pharmacy services and patient care. You will process medication orders, assist in inventory management, and provide courteous patient service, handling various payer interactions and ensuring accurate medication delivery.

The role includes outpatient and inpatient responsibilities, with routine IV preparation and central fill duties as part of a broader pharmacy operations team in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT (NHA) required or 1 year equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Processes medication orders including computer order entry, medication preparation and assembles all items prior to pharmacist final check.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies according to policies, including inspection of assigned areas and use of pharmacy computer systems.
• Provides customer service by taking patient prescriptions and documenting information, handles interactions, and releases medications per policy.
• For Outpatient Techs: validates insurance coverage and ensures adjudication, handles cash, deposits and reports.
• For Inpatient Techs: compounds, stocks, repackages and batches from bulk medications; prepares IV orders including compounding and labeling.
• Central Fill Pharmacy: safe operation of equipment and other duties as assigned.
