Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred; sterile product preparation experience valued.
• Certified with Virginia Board of Pharmacy or eligible with certification within 9 months of hire.
• PTCB or ExCPT certification required or eligible.
• Sterile product preparation training & certificate program required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist and health care professionals in medication distribution.
• Prepare new and refilled IV orders and TPNs; compound IV stock solutions.
• Use aseptic technique for sterile preparations and ensure proper expiration dating.
• Organize and prioritize calls and patient location verification; communicate with pharmacists.
• Restock IV room and maintain clean, compliant work environment.
• Label and package medications for automated dispensing devices.
• Ensure proper delivery to patient care units and address concerns.
