Pharmacy Technician II, Inpatient & Care Connections Pharmacy, Wilkes Medical Center

Job Description

Job Summary: Works as a member of the Production Team in the Central Cleanroom under the supervision of a pharmacist and collaborates with other technicians. Responsibilities include preparing intravenous admixtures, including small and large volume parenteral solutions and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) using aseptic techniques. Prepares and delivers unit dose medications, cart fills, and Omnicell stock for both adult and pediatric patients. Provides technical support to pharmacists and clinicians to ensure safe medication transitions during admissions and discharges, supporting medication reconciliation and pharmacy services. Collaborates with the care team, attends required training, and upholds hospital values and teamwork principles.

Position Highlights:

  • Full-Time, Day Shift
  • 1st shift, Monday-Friday, with a rotating 2nd shift (1 PM - 9:30 PM) every 4th week and weekend rotation every other week

Your role may include:

  • Assisting pharmacists with medication preparation and processing to ensure timely and accurate delivery and billing.
  • Organizing daily tasks efficiently and working collaboratively.
  • Maintaining medication stock quality and availability.
  • Providing pharmacy services within patient care areas.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and supporting departmental goals.
  • Keeping skills current and assisting in staff education.
  • Supporting a positive work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Delivering age-specific care according to guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration as a pharmacy technician within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program
  • Associate degree in healthcare or related field
