Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support distributive pharmacy services for both outpatient and inpatient populations. You will perform order entry, compounding, inventory management, and patient prescription processing in a high-volume setting.

Responsibilities include validating insurance coverage, handling cash and deposits, and preparing IV admixtures when needed, with ongoing compliance to HIPAA and privacy policies.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a pharmacy technician training program or one year of equivalent experience.
• Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician with PA State Board before start date.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT (NHA) required.

Responsibilities

• Processes medication orders including computer entry, medication preparation and assembly prior to pharmacist final check.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies per policies, inspecting areas and using pharmacy computer systems.
• Assists customers by taking prescriptions, recording required information, and releasing medications per policy.
• Outpatient techs: validates Medicaid/Medicare or commercial insurance and handles cash, deposits and accounting reports. Inpatient techs: compounds, stocks, repackages and batches from bulk meds and prepares routine IV orders and admixtures.
• Other duties as assigned or requested.
