Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide distributive pharmacy services and support for the registered pharmacist. The role includes processing orders, maintaining inventory, and delivering patient-focused service in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires a High school diploma/GED and a Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT (NHA), with registration required by June 28, 2026. Preference for 1 year of pharmacy experience and relevant training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT (NHA) is required.
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year of equivalent experience is required.
• Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician with PA State Board is required by 06/28/2026.

Responsibilities

• Processes medication orders including computer order entry, medication preparation and assembles items prior to pharmacist final check.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies according to policies; inspects assigned areas and uses pharmacy systems.
• Provides customer service by taking prescriptions, documenting information, and releasing medications per policy.
• For Outpatient Techs: validates Medicaid/Medicare or commercial insurance coverage and ensures adjudication; handles cash, deposits and accounting reports.
• For Inpatient Techs: compounds, stocks, repackages and batches from bulk meds; prepares routine IV orders including compounding and labeling.
• Central Fill Pharmacy: operates equipment safely (forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks).
• Other duties as assigned.
