Job summary

Memorial Home Services seeks a Pharmacy Technician to work full time with day shifts and every third weekend rotation, under supervision of licensed Pharmacists. The role supports medication preparation, inventory control, and recordkeeping in a compliant environment.

The position requires a State of Illinois Technician license, and PTCB or ExCPT certification is required with listed exceptions; prior pharmacy training is preferred and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Formal pharmacy technician training or 2 years pharmacy experience.
• Competence in two specified areas (Sterile Compounding, Technician, Purchasing, Narcotic Technician, Medication History).
• Excellent oral and written communication and customer relations skills.
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry into an electronic system.

Job description

Full time Primarily day shift (coverage on other shifts as needed) Every 3rd weekend rotation Under the direct guidance and supervision of a licensed Pharmacist(s), and following all Federal and State regulations, prepares and distributes medications and maintains drug inventory and patient records. Education:

• High School diploma/GED required.
• Must meet one of the following:
  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program
  • Two years pharmacy experience
  • Demonstrates competency and ability to work in at least two of the following areas:
    • Sterile Compounding
    • OR Technician
    • Purchasing/Buyer
    • Narcotic Technician
    • Medication History Technician

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

• Current State of Illinois Technician license required.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board-(PTCB) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) required with the following exceptions: Pharmacy technicians who obtained initial licensure prior to January 1, 2008Pharmacy students enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy
• Prior pharmacy training preferred

Experience:

• Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication, problem solving, basic math, and customer relations skills.
• Demonstrates basic computer knowledge, with the ability to operate keyboard and mouse to access and store information into an electronic database.
• Ability to push, pull, and transport up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for long periods of time.
