Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for their 38410 department. The role involves assisting licensed pharmacists in medication preparation, labeling, and distribution, handling hazardous drugs and controlled substances, and supporting daily procurement and inventory processes.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Certification within 18 months (CPhT or ExCPT) is expected, with no prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Prepare, label and dispense medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks and inventory control.
• Screen calls and route using proper etiquette.
• Assist in procurement, inventory control and outdate checking.
• Complete documentation for controlled substances and regulatory requirements.
• Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards where applicable.
• Perform sterile IV admixture under supervision.
• Ensure proper storage conditions and storage area compliance.
• Document patient demographics and data entry into pharmacy system for record keeping.
