Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with medication preparation, labeling, and distribution across multiple locations. You will help manage inventory, handle hazardous drugs, and support in nonsterile compounding and IV admixtures where applicable.

The role requires state licensure, a pharmacy tech certification within 18 months, and strong communication skills to coordinate with teams and patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• State board licensure/registration required.
• Certification (CPhT or ExCPT) within 18 months of start.
• Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist with preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks and inventory control.
• Screen phone calls and route as needed using proper etiquette.
• Complete documentation for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances.
• Perform nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture as applicable.
• Inspect storage areas and ensure adherence to policies.
• Record patient demographics and data into the system for records, insurance, labeling, and cashiering.
• Develop competence in third-party billing functions.
• May immunize under supervision of a registered pharmacist; travel between locations.
