Job summary

UMC Health System is looking for a Pharmacy Technician I to assist the Pharmacist in providing quality care to patients through accurate medication distribution. Responsibilities include processing medication orders, maintaining pharmacy logs, and assisting in inventory control.

The ideal candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED and be registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. The position offers various benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement benefits with employer match.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the State of Texas Board of Pharmacy.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I assists the Pharmacist and other hospital staff in providing quality care to patients by applying knowledge and training of medication distribution.

Daily Assignments

• Accurately process medication orders and requests, gather and dispense medications
• Deliver drugs to assigned units
• Maintain daily pharmacy logs
• Assist in inventory control, answer phones, and other assigned duties by the Pharmacy Supervisor or Pharmacist
• Other duties related to Pharmacy Compliance as assigned

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensures/Certifications/Registrations

Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the State of Texas Board of Pharmacy.

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated combination of training and experience that requires concentration, accuracy, and discipline
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Interaction with Other Departments

Daily interaction with pharmacy department staff and frequent contact with department nurses and leaders.

Physical Capabilities

• Light demand work, involves walking on campus
• Near visual acuity to read documents and computer records
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds

Environmental/Working Conditions

This position is subject to inside environmental changes, including temperature fluctuations. Hours of duty may be irregular to accommodate departmental requirements.
