Covenant Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for Parkwest Medical Center in West Knoxville. This part-time position requires working 48 hours per pay period with day shifts, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to prepare, dispense and distribute medications.

Responsibilities include processing medication orders, maintaining patient profiles, and ensuring accurate IV preparation and inventory management. Tennessee licensure within 90 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum education not specified; typically equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
• No formal experience required for this role.
• Tennessee Board of Pharmacy requires licensure as a pharmacy technician within 90 days of hire and active status thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Fill medication orders and outpatient prescriptions for pharmacist verification.
• Assist with maintenance of the computerized patient profile system and related transactions.
• Maintain 24-hour inpatient medication supply and prepare extemporaneous unit dose medications.
• Verify the integrity of emergency carts and coordinate medication deliveries with patient-care areas.
• Perform aseptic technique duties and basic IV preparation support; calculate medication volumes.
• Reconcile IV doses and document discrepancies; transmit drug orders to wholesalers.
• Stock and rotate pharmacy inventory; monitor expiration dates and ensure formulary adherence.
