Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications. You will accurately label and prepare medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances, while assisting with inventory and daily procurement tasks.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and CPhT/ExCPT certification within 18 months. Prior experience is preferred, with opportunities to train others and participate in quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification required within 18 months from start date (CPhT or ExCPT).
• No work experience required; prior pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist with technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks and inventory control.
• Screen calls and route using proper telephone etiquette.
• Document removal, stocking and waste of controlled substances as applicable.
• Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards where applicable.
• Perform sterile IV admixture using proper aseptic technique where applicable.
• Ensure storage areas comply with all policies and regulations.
• Support training of technicians and extenders as needed.
