Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I to join our pharmacy operations. This full-time role includes day and night shifts (12-hour shifts) with every other weekend and rotating holidays; a sign-on bonus is offered for a 2-year commitment.

• Aseptic technique and sterile product handling.
• Ability to interpret orders and coordinate with pharmacists.

Responsibilities

• Accurately fills floor stock request.
• Prepare correct labeling for bulk drugs.
• Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.
• Basic understanding of physical and chemical stability for parenteral pharmaceuticals.
• Correctly interpret physician orders and distinguish between orders, labs, radiology, nursing, and other orders.
• Perform monthly medication storage area inspections.
• Select drugs from stock in proper dose, dosage form, and quantity as ordered by the physician under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Understands microbial contamination and exhibits Aseptic Technique while preparing sterile pharmaceutical products.
• Repackages drugs into a unit-of-use container.
