Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina in Mount Pleasant seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist a registered pharmacist with dispensing processes and support activities. You will collect, input, and verify prescription, refill, and patient information, and you may prepare labels and routine prepacked orders.

Responsibilities include receiving and stocking supplies and performing clerical duties as needed. SCT Board of Pharmacy registration must be maintained, and certification via PTCB or ExCPT

Qualifications

• Must have current SC Board of Pharmacy registration and maintain it.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
• ASHP-accredited program enrollment with up to 30 days post-program to obtain certification.

Job Description: Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department.

Additional Job Description:

Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 0-6months

Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) is required and must be maintained. Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)) certification:

• Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 1 year of 11/1/2023.
• New Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 6 months of hire.
• New team members who are enrolled or will enroll in a pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or recognized by PTCB, have 30 days post program completion to obtain certification.
