Job summary

The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support dispensing activities under a licensed pharmacist in our Charleston, SC facility. You will input and verify prescription data, stock supplies, and help prepare labels and prepacked orders.

Candidates must hold SCBOP registration and pursue a PTCB or ExCPT certification as required. This hourly, regular position includes a 40-hour workweek and patient-focused team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the SCBOP is required and must be maintained.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required or must be obtained.
• Education: High School Degree or Equivalent.

Job Description

Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department.

Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 0-6months

Required

Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) is required and must be maintained.

Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)) certification.

• Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 1 year of 11/1/2023.
• New Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 6 months of hire.
• New team members who are enrolled or will enroll in a pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or recognized by PTCB, have 30 days post program completion to obtain certification.
