Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications. The position is Temporarily based at Mercy Old Tesson in Missouri, with full-time hours (40 hrs) and relocation planned before year-end.

The Tech II level requires active Missouri registration as a Pharmacy Technician (or willingness to apply by day one) and 1+ year of pharmacy experience; Tech I/III have similar education with increasing experience and CPhT certification as

• Tech II/III: Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam. Licensure: Active Missouri Board of Pharmacy registration or willingness to apply by first day; fingerprints for FBI background check.

The Pharmacy Tech II follows applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

Pharmacy Technician

Location: Temporarily based at Mercy Old Tesson (relocating before year-end)

Schedule/Hours: Full time (40 hrs)

The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and are accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician follows applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

Qualifications

Tech I

Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.

Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.

Experience: 1-year relevant pharmacy experience preferred but not required.

Other: Successfully complete pharmacy department orientation.

Tech II

Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.

Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.

Experience: 1-year relevant pharmacy experience required; 2 years preferred.

Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Tech III

Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.

Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.

Experience: 3-year relevant pharmacy experience required.

Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
