Job summary

UAB St. Vincent's is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Inpatient Pharmacy in Birmingham, AL. Schedule: 7 on/7 off, 5:30am–4:00pm, with duties in specialized compounding and medication history, supporting pharmacists and patient access services.

Requirements include ALBOP registration, CPhT certification, and a high school diploma or equivalent; two years of relevant experience are preferred. Benefits are available for eligible positions.

Qualifications

• Currently registered as a pharmacy technician by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required.
• Must hold active certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the PTCB or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the Pharmacist.
• Performs specialized duties such as hazardous drug compounding, medication history, nuclear, and PAP.
• Refills and maintains automated dispensing system; preps orders, maintains inventory, and repackages bulk medications.
• Interacts with patients, health professionals, and external resources to provide information.
• Assists with patient medication access including benefit investigations, prior authorization, and financial assistance.
• Assists Pharmacist in preparing patient education materials.
• May administer immunizations per state laws.
• Supports inventory management and drug shortage optimization.
