Description

The Lead Pharmacy Technician is responsible for carrying out duties that assist licensed pharmacists manage a pharmacy. This involves carrying out clerical tasks such as answering the phone, stocking shelves, taking inventory, and filling prescriptions for the Pharmacist to double-check. They also have supervisory responsibilities and are held to a higher standard over other technicians.

Qualifications:

Certified Pharmacy Technician - preferred or prior experience as a pharmacy technician

Responsibilities:

  • Keep lines of communication open with Facilities Coordinator and Pharmacist Manager
  • Manage pharmacy technicians from a team-oriented perspective
  • Address and document struggles and triumphs with individuals
  • Collaborate with other department coordinators
  • Ensure pharmacy tasks and responsibilities in the filling area are being completed efficiently and accurately
  • Train or delegate training on cycle and daily filling, Pioneer,, printing labels, MARs of cycle filling, printing delivery lists for cycles and ensure cycles are delivered on the assigned date
  • Locate, count, package and label prescription drugs and supplies accurately and efficiently in compliance with local, state, federal, and company regulations
  • Efficiently utilize robotic machines and accompanying software to package and check medications for accuracyAssist with inventory, placing orders, check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves, and remove out-of-date items from the inventory
  • Resupply contingency boxes
  • Sort and restock medications
  • Assist all pharmacy technicians when needed
  • Solve problems independently and collaboratively
  • Manage scheduling for technicians

Data Entry Team Leader General Responsibilities

  • Keep lines of communication open with Managing Pharmacist
  • Manage data entry employees from a team-oriented perspective
  • Address and document struggles and triumphs with staff
  • Collaborate with other department coordinators
  • Efficiently and accurately input patient data and medication orders accurately into the pharmacy’s computer system
  • Screen telephone calls for the pharmacist
  • Communicate with medical facilities
  • Communicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorization via phone and fax
  • Solve problems independently and collaboratively
  • Train, or delegate training, and assist all pharmacy technicians when needed

Inventory General Responsibilities

  • Keep lines of communication open with Managing Pharmacist
  • Manage inventory specialists from a team-oriented perspective
  • Address and document struggles and triumphs with individuals
  • Collaborate with other department coordinators
  • Monitor all ordering and returns
  • Supervise orders ensuring they are put away promptly and efficiently
  • Monitor NDC’s for best pricing
  • Accurately and efficiently manage inventory, place orders, check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves, and remove out-of-date items from the inventory for return or destruction
  • Resupply contingency boxes
  • Back up filling pharmacy technicians when needed
  • Solve problems independently and collaboratively
  • Train, or delegate training, and assist all pharmacy technicians when needed
  • Collaboratively work with Pharmacists using DEA guidelines to schedule and conduct inventories when required
  • Ensure owes are filled

Supervisory Responsibilities and Controls (Leadership role in the department includes, but is not limited to/ Level of supervisory oversight and guidance is):

  • Oversee and guide Level 1 through Level 3 Pharmacy Technicians toward goals and everyday tasks that need to be accomplished
  • Manage time and duties assigned by the Facilities Manager the Pharmacist Coordinator or their superiors
  • Report to the Managing Pharmacist to receive details on tasks and goals that need to be focused on and accomplished
  • Maintain and actively practice proper business ethics
  • Exceeds standards set forth in the Hometown Pharmacy Employee Handbook
  • Uphold an effective teamwork-oriented and friendly environment
  • Stay current with continuing education requirements provided by Hometown Pharmacy through the Pharmacist’s Letter program

Physical Demands:

  • Standing to process prescriptions
  • Walking, bending and sometimes twisting to select bottles off shelves to fill prescriptions and to manage inventory
  • Occasionally lifting totes of product
  • Cleaning to maintain the work area
