Summary

Applicant must possess a High School diploma or equivalent. Must be currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the California Board of Pharmacy. One year of experience with knowledge of all aspects of California Pharmacy Technician Statutes is required. Must have current CPR certification that complies with the guidelines set by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, which can be obtained prior to orientation. This position requires frequent travel between RSBCIHI clinic locations; reliable transportation and flexibility are essential. The technician participates in daily pharmacy operations under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, including record keeping, inventory control, prescription filling, and quality management. Sensitivity to Indian culture and community is important.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Accurately transcribe and input prescription information, handle refill requests, and complete related forms.
2. Maintain thorough knowledge of pharmacy operations, laws, policies, and formulary items. Assist with stock management, prepare prescriptions, and participate in quality control activities.
3. Assist pharmacists in solving complex problems, provide patient-centered care, organize workflow efficiently, and submit required reports timely.
4. Communicate effectively with patients and professionals, translating medical terms into layman language, and promote cooperation among staff.
5. Perform other duties as assigned, with proper training and documentation.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of a recognized pharmacy technician training course.

Certification

Current CPR certification per AHA or Red Cross guidelines, obtainable prior to orientation.

License

Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the California Board of Pharmacy. Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel between clinics.

Knowledge

All aspects of California pharmacy technician statutes.

Skills

Typing speed of 30 words per minute recommended.

Abilities

Ability to work with the Indian community and be sensitive to its cultural needs.

Physical Demands

Sitting, standing, bending, stooping, lifting up to 40 pounds, and operating related equipment. Driving between clinics as needed.

Salary

$43,680.00 ($21.00/hour)
