Children's Behavioral Health Technician - Cottonwood Residential - Floating Shift

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Full Time: Non-Exempt
Shift: Floating - in the Floating Behavioral Health Technician position, your shift time would vary, dependent upon program need. As a floater, you would need to have the flexibility to work across all 3 shift times (Morning/Day, Evening, and Overnight). While typically the shift times are known in advance, situations arise where the staff would need to "float" at a moments notice to another shift time.

Pay Range: $18.59 per hour

The Program
Cottonwood is a 16 Bed Residential Treatment Facility serving children and adolescent patients. The program is intended for youth 7-18 years of age. The program offers an intensive residential treatment milieu and serves an alternative to hospitalization.

Your Job as a Behavioral Health Technician

As a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), you will oversee clients' safety and mental well-being, assist with skill-building, participate in groups and social activities, and intervene in crisis situations. You will also take children to social and recreational activities such as bowling, swimming, and sports.

Essential Functions
  • Provide care that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment.
  • Educate clients on daily living activities and self-care management.
  • Teach functional living skills based on individual treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to coordinate client care.
  • Complete and chart client observations.
  • Conduct personal belongings, room, and grounds checks.
  • Ensure protective oversight and monitor clients' conditions.
  • Transport clients to appointments as needed.
  • Intervene in behavioral health crises, including seclusion and restraint interventions.
  • Document according to clinical policies and procedures.
  • Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED / HSE Required
    • Preference will be given to those with previous mental health, healthcare, or experience working with youth
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.

Also must have the following:
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, ability to obtain a Class E license, and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must be able to pass CPR/FA training and ProACT training.

This position requires potential candidates to complete additional and expanded background screenings through Department of Social Services (DSS).
